Obtain Salary Formulas from a Survey
To convert job points to a market salary

Why do I do this?

To determine the conversion from job points to a market salary, formulas based on the results of salary surveys are used. These formulas convert the points into a market salary in the particular employment market covered by the survey.

The formulas are provided in the results published on-line for NRC job-evaluated salary surveys. To obtain the formulas, access the results for a relevant NRC salary survey. The formulas then need to be manually recorded into Jobscore.

Steps to do this:

One entry on the Secure Access Main menu will be Job Price. Job Price is the area where all NRC salary survey results are displayed.

  • Select Job Price from the Secure Access Main menu to display the Job Price Main Menu.

  • The next step is to Select the Survey whose job points-to-market-salary formulas are to be obtained.

To select a survey, use the Select Survey option on the Job Price Main Menu. The Select Survey screen is displayed:

This screen includes a table listing the surveys your user name currently has permission to access. The above illustration shows one survey available for access - the all-industries, job evaluated survey published in April 2004 with Survey ID 'NS0404'.

Click on the Survey ID in the list to access the information relevant to that Survey ID. On selection you are returned to the Job Price Main Menu. Once back at the Job Price Main Menu you will see that the entry towards the top of that Menu, "Current Survey", displays the chosen survey identifier, thereby confirming the survey you selected.

All results for the selected survey can now be accessed, including the required conversion formulas.

  • From the Job Price Main Menu select the entry Trends to display the Trends Index Menu:

The Salary Formulas/Charts entry on the Trends Index Menu contains the conversion formulas we are seeking.

  • Select Salary Formulas and Charts on the Trends Index Menu to display the Salary Line Formulas screen:

  • Print out the contents of the table of Salary Formulas displayed. We will manually enter figures from this table when we return to Jobscore.
